OUR FOREST, FLORA & FAUNA

The CCF is located in the "Southern Interior Mountains Ecoprovince", which is characterized by the dry conditions produced by the wide valley between the Purcell and Rocky Mountain ranges.  The Biogeoclimatic System breaks down zones by vegetation, soil and climate and is used most commonly in forestry. The CCF is located in the interior Douglas Fir zone which is characterized by forest dominated by Douglas fir trees, grassy understories, dry shallow soils, hot dry summers, and low snow levels in winters.  The Cranbrook Community Forest Society is actively involved in ecosystem restoration to improve forest health.  Here are some pictures of events we held in 2010 & 2011.
